CASE STUDY 1: The One-Day Turn Around
The phone rang. The man on the line wanted to know if I provided assertiveness training for managers. His team was meeting that afternoon and I offered to come and listen in on what was happening. It quickly became clear that assertiveness was not the problem and more would only escalate conflict.
What was needed was a new leadership culture that was not based on more command and control but engagement, employee development and appreciation. I listened, advised and facilitated a discussion on their best ideas that they could implement immediately.
That evening, I wrote up a leadership advisory complete with examples and emailed it. Each manager their strategic advice in their hands the next morning. They revisited the concepts with the owner were able to begin shifting the culture and the employee’s performance that day. They also began gaining back the respect they had begun to lose. It was a one-day turn around.
